Default pulley instalation

i plan on getting pulleys for my car next, my friend has some unorthidox he is hooking me up with for $50..
the question i have for everyone is:
what is the best way to install them
i was looking under the hood today..the pulleyes dont look to easy to get to.
and i know some of you guys have some little tricks of the trade.
so any info would help...

and for all you who have added some pulleys..how do you notice the performance.?

Take off the drivers side wheel and fender liner and install from underneath....

Goodluck with the crankpulley bolt

i would not expect ANY gains from that pulley unless maybe u have ur a/c on. It feels like a lightened flywheel but only about 1/8th as significant. for $50 i guess u cant go wrong. you can definitely tell the alternator is being underdriven when you have ur headlights on.

i hear a lot of this "harmonic damper" argument but ive had my pulley on for quite a long time and i seriously havent experienced any of the bullshit that people have managed to pull out of their a$$.

yea i heard the crankpulley bolt is a pain.
lol
so do you think that it is really worth adding pulleys?.
how much of a hp gain did you think it added?.

and what do you think about replacing the cam gears?

DONT DO IT!!! my buddy has gone through 2 batteries in 8 months on his r due to a unorthodox alternator pulley. its not worth it all, not for the horsepower gained from it. thats my 2 cents!

The labor involved isn't tremendous as long as you have a means of easily removing the crank pulley bolt (we use a very large impact gun that removes them in seconds) so I would definitely go ahead and install it for the $50 cost. Don't bother with any accessory pulleys your friend might have - they'll just be more work without any performance benefit.

As for cam gears, unless you'll be tuning them on a dyno once you install them, pass on them.

UR's alternator pulley, like all their accessory pulleys, doesn't under-drive, so it would have no effect on the charging system. If he's also running the UR crank pulley, then there must be other factors involved (large stereo, problem with the alternator or charging system, etc.). Many people, including myself, run the UR pulley with no ill effects on the battery. In fact, my brother's car is running a lightweight, lower-capacity battery and a UR crank pulley, and has no problem at all, even with a moderate amplifier.

sorry to hear that.. but i havent had ONE problem as a result from my unorthodox pulley set. Ive had them in for probably about 12-14,000 miles now. And i think the only pulley tho u really benefit from is the crank pulley.. after installation of that AND my fidanza flywheel.. which we did at the same time.. my cars rpms dropped and raised like crazy
