Default Reasons for 3rd grind besides syncros.....

I have allways had a small 3rd gear scratch that would more often then not occur when shifting above 7k. (2000 b18c1, ~30k miles, new Honda MTF)

Now after installing an ACT prolite flywheel, and Action 2KS clutch, the grind is really bad. Shifting into third above 5k results in a very nasty grind. All other gears perfect. Even If I shift extremely slowly from a redline shift from 2nd to third I get a nasty grind. Other then the grind I ABSOLUTLY LOVE the setup.

I can revmatch(or not revmatch) into third from forth or 5th at speeds above 60 and there is NO grind at all.

When we were doing the clutch job we went to install a rear mount insert, and it wouldn't fit because it appeared the rear mount was worn and crushed down some, not allowing the insert to fit.

Could the worn mount be causing the problems? Perhaps a shift linkage problem.

Looking for people with ACTUAL experience in this area, thanks.

Could be clutch related! Perhaps the new clutch isn't disengaging the synchros... on my CABLE B16 tranny I had it misadjusted and it grinded like hell. Not sure how the hydro trannies work though...

synchros are actully called blocking rigns that are used to slow down the gear so the shift fork can engage them. so think if you dont slow it down enough it will grind replace your 3rd gear
