does the thinner part go into the head or block?

i dont have them in front of me but it seems like they can go in either spot depending on what side is up and down.

my reasoning for a dumb question: if u put the dowels in the back of the head u put the skinny part in the head and the fat part in the block. if u put them in the front u put the fat part in the head and skinny in the block. it seems like both will work to me

 

Thinner goes to the head on the IN side of the motor.

 

they couldnt go the other way upside down?

i just did this swap last week. U doing a LSVTEC?

Smaller side goes into block EXHUAST side. LArger part goes into head. then u must drill out the 2 dowel holes on the exhuast side of the gasket 9/16 to fit the dowel pin

I'm 99% sure there is no drilling necessary for the GE dowels. You only have to drill the head if your are using the stock dowels.

 

he said drill the gasket not the head and nobody has yet to answer my question...i know how to put in a friggin dowel pin. my question once again is:

can un install the dowel pins unside down on the opposite side(intake)????

 

i used a ge headgasket and did not have to drill any thing, i put my dowels in the exhaust side of the head for some reason they wouldnt work on the other side for me, i dont know if it had any thing to do with useing head studs or not, but it shouldnt matter where you put them aslong as they are there mine work fine in the exhaust side

 

im doing the build right now on mine.. would anyone have any pic. of them installed? do they go were the stock dowel pins were? and i never heard of anyone having to drill the headgasket to make them fit. i know you only have to drill when you use stock pins but not the ge or full race. i have full-race dowel pins

 

u always have 2 unless u get a golden eagle headgasket which is just an oem that ge has done if already the dowel pins r 4 perfect aligment on the head but u have 2 open the open the gasket dowel a little to make it fit check diyracing.com teamintegra.com alot of site say the same thing even in the superstreet issue long time ago they did 2

THROW away your damn stock doweles ok.

Take the GE dowels, place the small end on the EXHUAST SIDE OF THE BLOOOOCK! the drill the OEM headgasket dowel holes to 9/16 inch on the corresponding EX dowel matching hole locations. The larger end of the dowel goes into vtec head.

 

dont do it on the INTAKE side, why do u insist on this when you arent suppose to ?
