looking to buying a 97 EX coupe 5 speed...need some help
Hey guys, I'm new here at the forum. I want to buy a 97 EX coupe and I had a few questions...would it be better to buy an LX and do an H23 swap with turbo or buy the EX and do a H22 swap? Which will make more HP and which will cost more money? Oh and I want a 97 because it's the newest of that generation, but people in previous posts seem to prefer the 94 and 95...why is that? Just curious.

If you are going to do a swap into the car, buy whatever one is cheaper. Generally you will find the LX for cheaper than the EX. When you do the swap, you can do either the H22 or H23 into either car. That is no big deal at all. As far as the motor goes, you will make more power with the Turbo H23 then you will with a NA H22. The H22 will be cheaper than the H23 and the turbo though.
Look to spend between $12,000 to $15,000 for the car. Add around $2500 for the new motor. then add another $2500 for the turbo.

i would say get a 94 becuase it will be cheaper than a 97 and it has the same body style plus the milage on the f22 motor wont matter becuase your going to swap i think other people also say 94-95 becuase if you do mod the f22 motor you will be in obd I as opposed to obd 2

Thanks for the info...Just wondering though...what's obd 1 and obd 2? and also are the 94 and 95 any lighter than the 96 and 97? Is it also easy to swap the f22 with the V6s that are in the V6 sedans from those years? I'm not sure what the engine codes for those are...the V6 2.7L 170HP ones.
obd 1 and obd2 are terms for the ecu obd1 is less restrict than obd2 if your going to do any motor swaping in that car i would also suggest the h22 and not the V6
