Icon2 H2b swap questions

So I am planning on doing a h2b swap Into my 97 ek cuope.
And while I was researching I found many things that I have a few questions on.
What's better to go with, the og H22 ,the f20b( I read same thing as a h22) or h23, and about the h23. Is it the same thing as h22 and the QSD kit will work with it ? I don't plan on doing any mods except I/H/E and a street tune, so what is my best option, any help and advice will be appreciated.

F20b is not the same thing as a h22, it is similar, uses same head ect, But it has a different stroke. h23 is also not the same, do not know much about them I was steered clear by a friend...for good reason? I am not sure. The F20b is a great motor, so is the H22, Im sure the H23 has fans as well....you would be fine with any of them

As far as specs i think the h23vtec and F20B are probably the best to start with. I am using a USDM H22, because of the deal I got. However read through the thread below about the strengths of the H23 vtec and see that it is a very potent factory engine.

H23 Vtec

The H23A-vtec is the best option, hands down. A JDM H22 is the next best option, but USDM versions tend to have high milage. The F20B is good if you want to save money or rev high.

The only down sides of the H23A-vtec is the IACV situation, which can be fixed by swapping on an H22 plenum; the F20B also requires this. Beyond that it makes more HP and more torque than either motor, and it does so at a slightly lower RPM. The F20B (manual version) makes the same HP as the H22, but a bit less torque; the automatic version makes a bit less power all over. The F20B is nice with a b16 trans, since it's power peaks about 500-750 rpm higher than an H22 (~7750 vs 7250) and makes more power than the same money into a b20-vtec. The F20B block is most like a H22A4 except it has iron 85mm sleeves and a shorter stroke; the H23A-V is most like an H22A4 with a longer stroke and the oil squirters removed.

BTW the F20B's head IS different. It uses slightly smaller H23 non-vtec valves.

H23a vtec! My buddy has one on his lude, makes more power and torque with the same bolt ons he had on his h22a4.

Yes, from that standpoint they are all identical. Same location & number of mounting holes, same exterior dimensions for manifolds & etc.

The only difference you'll need to know (for bolt-ons) is the H23A has a slightly larger throttle body inlet. A 2.75" silicone elbow will work on the F20B and H22, while the H23A needs a 3" silicone elbow. A rubber 2.75" elbow will be incredibly tight on the H23A TB, and a good 2.75" silicone elbow won't flex enough to fit. The H22 & F20B use 60mm throttle bodies while the H23A is 62mm.

And also I've read that the f20b it's harder to get headers and intake manies for them, is this true or not and with basic bolt on for example I/H/E and a TB/Intake manie and a tune what number should I see,
I've read some peaple made 215-220 WHP and 170TQ
Can this be accomplished with a stock f20b with those Bolt ons and a tune??

Your numbers could be similar to what others have done but basically its bench racing. If I were you look at people who have used the F20B engines and see what they have done.

Here is a thread all about the F20B for you to go through. Notice it was created 7 years ago. A little searching can help with most of your questions which are fairly basic.

I've had a usdm h22,a f20b and now a h23 vtec in my eg hatch. The h23 vtec is by far the most fun and pulls the hardest. You can get them for around $850 from JEI.

As for bolt ons it's all the same. Same headers intakes etc as h22. The differences are going to be in the blocks for the most part.

The f20b was fun but you have to Rev it too much to get power. The torque difference in the h23 is completely worth going that route even if you can only rev it to 7.5k

I had a chipped p28 from Phearable that I then had dyno'd by Church's place in Vegas.

I've heard bad things about Tiger. I've used Hmotors and JEI myself.

I'd use GSR, it'd go with the H's power band better.

JEI is Japanese Engine Imports out of Virginia. Almost as good as Hmotorsonline but usually cheaper.
