I need to know what the plastic box is under the dash that is attached to the steering column. It has holes in it and a six pin connector. Mine is smoking (Yeah I got a short) but I don't even know what it is. Can't find a picture of it in any manual anywhere. Please help.

Yes, the car still works but the guages and signals do not. I have no signals, hazards, tach, fuel guage, temp guage or radio. The check engine light is the only light that works on the guage cluster. There are no codes though. I think if I knew what that box is, that is getting so hot, I would be able to narrow down the problem and be able to fix it.
