ball joint removal

so im in the middle of replacing my CV boots and am stuck on the ball joints, whats the best way to get this thing off? Can I use something other than a ball joint remover?

any help greatly appreciated.

Hammer, and a prybar. Don't pry on the joint, pry down on the LCA by putting the prybar through the LCA, and then pry from the frame.
