sw388 or slipstreams
spoons if you could afford and will take em to the extreme and get your moneys worth. otherwise slipstreams if you don't wanna spend the money and aren't really competitive. I would personally get the slipstreams because Its not like i'm gonna be competing like RTR type Rs and i definately don't have the $ also. hehe

Ok,lets compare a rim that is $400 each and a rim that is $400 for all four
.I get sick of hearing this bs about Spoon wheels are higher quality. They should be for 4 times the $$$$.If I were to want a wheel that looks like that I would buy the Rotas. If I hit a pothole or curb it I am only out $100.
The moral of my story:If you have money growing out of your *** or you parents put it there for you,and you MUST spend it on black wheels for your car,Buy the Spoons. If you make your own money,no matter how much that may be,buy the Rotas.

I believe the way you can tell is that the slipstreams have a glossier finish while the Spoons have a flatter black. Secondly, if the wheel is off the car, I believe that at the center of the wheel by the bolt pattern on the back of the wheel, you will see the words "Russia" imprinted on the real ones. That's where they are made. Lastly, if you've ever seen a real spoon/regamaster, you can definitely tell in the quality of the wheel. To me, that's the most obvious
Well, i want to spot it just by looking at it... I heard a few ppl has already paint over the original finish of the Rota's... Is there anyway by looking at the spokes or lip??? I heard someone say that the lip is a bit different... Can anyone post pictures of all three to compare??? Thanx

This is how you tell them apart.
Look on the side of the spokes, the real deal have a slot on the side of the spoke.
All the copies, including Rota and Speedy, dont have the slot; the sides are smooth.
Also, if you have seen the real ones, you can tell that the copies have MUCH thicker spokes.

well... i wasnt asking what wheel i should get... i was just taking a survey of who has the real spoons or slipstreams...
The Rota Slipstreams do have slots on the side of the spokes. To me, they look EXACTLY like the SW388's (aside from the finish) when on a car so be careful when buying supposed "Spoon SW388's." I am not sure about the thicker spokes though as the Rota spokes were pretty thin as well. Just be careful when trying to distinguish the two.

I work at a shop that sells the Rotas, and the Slipstreams look very similiar, but NOT identical to the SW388s. The finish is a bit glossier, and there ARE indentions on the sides of the spokes, but these indentions are NOT just like the SPOONs. If you've never seen a real SPOON wheel in person, then you might mistake the Rotas for the SPOONs, but if you have, then surely you'll be able to tell the difference from a distance.
When people ask me which wheel Rota to buy, I really let them choose, but if they ask me if they can pass the black Slips off as SPOONS, I tell them hell no, and it's VERY wrong to even try to do so. My favorite Rota is the bronze Circuit 8 (I have a set on my EG) mainly becuase of the looks, but also because if someone tries to tell me i have a Mugen copy, I tell them I don't because I have 15's, and as far as I know the MF8's don't even come in a 15''.
Now, Slipstreams or SW388s? I bought some Rotas, and with the money saved I put it towards some worthy mods, like ITR swap and JDM final drive, but to each his own. i am also on a tighter budget than most here, I'm sure.
