Yes, there was a 3 page or so lip thread here, can't seem to find it anywhere.

Yeah,... and so can lawn trimming stuff from Home Depot.
There is even an accord lip than can be modded onto the bumper.
Nothing is a "perfect" fit.

(bay area) and i'm just looking for any ideas (especially pics or web sites) i dont care if it's JDM or rice or anything... if it looks good in my mind i'm pretty sure i'll go for it

The JDM look-
These pics are a couple months old, but not a whole lot has changed
My paint is fine... those are reflections of a tree that you can see on the paint... not dirt.

That's the JDM sedan front end.
With the JDM swap you get the hood, fenders, one-piece headlights, bumper, and radiator support. The radiator support needs to be welded on (after drilling out all the spot welds on the USDM support). It's a bolt on process after that.
I got rid of the JDM sedan bumper and put on the JDM hatch bumper.
I've also got OEM sedan side skirts. I had to get those imported (cost some $$$) because they aren't available anywhere in the US. There is aftermarket sides as well and I have also seen others that chop down other honda skirts and make them fit.
You can use suspension stuff from the hatch and CRX.
If you peek under my fender you can see the chassis bars in there.
I just finished assembly on it's motor last night. I should have it in this weekend and then I'll get on to making it run in my free time. No rush on it... it's been parked for almost a year now!

Time for a bunch of questions!!!
I didn't know the sedan came with sideskirts....this has been something I've been trying to verify for quite some time now.
Were you able to buy the side skirts new? Or did you have to find a good set of used skirts?
How well does the hatch bumper fit on the sedan? What was your reason for using it over the JDM sedan rear bumper?
What are the differences in the JDM sedan rear bumper compared to the USDM sedan bumper?
TIA.

I had to order them USED. They are not an easy find.
Fortunately I was able to get them from the same place that I got the power folding side mirror from.
Strangely enough, if you look at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com you can find them in the pictures. It's like you "could" order them or something, but you can't. They were never available in the states.

They must get their pics from Japan or something.
The hatch bumper doesn't fit the JDM front. I needed to make 1/2" or 3/4" spacers to go between the bumper and the subframe mounts.
I don't have a rear JDM bumper because they don't look much different than the USDM one from a 1988/1989. The only notable difference is the groove in the molding. I'm just using the stock 1991 bumper because I didn't have access to the 88 or 89 bumper at the time I had it painted.

I guess I mis-read.
You're using a hatch FRONT bumper, not rear bumper?
What was the reason for this? If it was for looks, I can see it. It definetly has more character than the Sedan bumpers I've seen.
Do you know if the 88/89 JDM front bumpers had the groove in the molding?
What I would like to do is have the groove in the moldings all the way around, like the SiR. The front sedan bumper I've seen is smooth...but I don't know if this is because it's a 90/91 style of if everything from 88-91 is the same.
I thought the USDM 88/89's had grooved molding all the way around the car like on the Civic Hatchback. Is this not the case?

Yes, the JDM sedan and the hatchback both have the same groove in the molding. It's very similar to the 88/89 USDM molding. From my pictures you can see I don't have any door molding on. I can't decide if I want to go with groove or no groove. Basically I either match my rear bumper or I match the front bumper. I can't decide.

I would personally try to match the front...seems like the most 'viewed' angle.
How different is the groove?

and here i thought i was going to be the 'odd man out' with a 90 DX sedan..
those are some sweet sedan's guys..
i'm probably not going to put too much into 'looks', simply because i picked mine up with so much rust.
my effort is all focused under the hood...

That's kind of what I was thinking when I started! Haha!
I had a B-series mount kit and was on my way for a fully built B18C with a fat turbo. It obvioulsly takes a long time to save up for something like that so during that time I realized how much $$$$ that was going to cost.
The mount kit got sold and D-series parts are replacing it.
Car got painted, suspenion got a serious upgrade.... I'd rather blow a d-series into tiny bits and pieces than an expensive B-motor. It's not like I'm going to be racing on a drag strip so I don't need all that power anyway.
