Would take a quart and a little bit to cover a stock hatch moving fairly quick, youll need atleast 2 coats though
Best paint selection is from
http://www.paintscratch.com
Good prices and you can pick how much you wont
Go buy a spray gun and spray it yourself, air guns are like $70 bucks and just borrow a compressor for someone
Not worth spending 2000 on a car worth less

i would check around for a paintshop in your area, paintscratch is horribly overpriced. i recently spent $460 for: dupont base (gal), basemaker, clear (gal), activator, poly primer (gal), lots of masking tape, gun cleaning solvent, and some other misc. things. i also bought 3 guns; 1 detailing gun (vacuum fed husky - home depot @ 29.99), 1 primer gun (gravity fed husky - home depot @ 59.99) and my main paint gun (gravity fed finish line - my paint shop $159.99). if i were you, i'd read up on painting a car yourself. once you get the logistics down, it's not hard at all.
Ok Ive done this 2 times on my current CRX. 2 quarts was just enough for my crx. Anything more than 2 quarts will cost as much as a gallon. Plus if you are not used to painting you'll need a little more.. especially with clearcoat...anyways extra clear just makes everything look better. allthough I painted my engine bay as well. People who are more experienced painters should be able to get you done w/ 2 quarts of each on the outside.
Another tip: unless you are going to sand past/through the existing clear coat... use a sealer primer.... it worked GREAT to cover up scratches and small blemishes after the bodywork we did. I used it the second paint job and it came out much better than the first.
Chroma Premiere is the paint... don't be misled. It is expensive but my car looks FUNKY! I spent about 1000 dollars for the most recent paint job. I had a few things left over from the first job though. I'm looking at my reciept and that includes: tape, putty, fiberglass, primer filler, activators, reducer, basemaker, supplies, etc. So that should give you a pretty good idea of cost.
Good luck

oh i'm not painting myself...hell no i'm bringing the paint to a shop because they said they would do all work as long as i bought the paint for a reasonable price...
so the paint that I want is code G66P, if I were to buy PPG paint what all would i need exactly, paint wise..
as in paint, primer, clear coat, base, etc...
i just want it to look like a brand new stock paint.

My Dupont paint costed me $122/gallon. I bought a gallon and I have a little more than a quart left over.
My boyfriends Dupont paint was $178/gallon. He had milano red and I had the stock blue metallic from a '91 Civic. His brother had the other stuff from his job. (He paints cars for a living)

I know that there is a ton of work that goes into painting a car and preping it etc. I know a guy who does excellent work when it comes to painting... Should I do the prep work myself and get it all ready for him to paint (taping removing stuff ect...)? sorry to sort of hijack the thread....
