Clearcoat? Wetsand? Clearcoat?
Recently did a DIY paintjob with Duplicolor wheel paint, turned out fine but I also clear coated it with DUplicolor wheel clearcoat. Im not happy with the shine though
SO what I want to do is wetsand the current clear to get rid of a few scrathes I found and the orange peel.
BUT BUT BUT
After I wetsand that can I just wet down the car and dry it nicely and clearcoat it again? Or do I have to do anything before I clearcoat it again?
Reason I am concerned is because doesnt wetsanding make the clear look dull? And you have to compund it or soemthing? Ime not to familiar
Also how much clearcoat would I buy to piant a crx? 2 quarts?
Im going to use a gun to do the clearcoat. So I need to know how much to buy

so your telling me your painted your whole car with duplicolor wheel paint? or did u paint your wheels. i dont know. your never gonna get it shine with spray can. i suggest u go to the paint shop and buy some paint. it really doesnt cost that much. just get the bottom of the line paint. and shoot it. got a price quote the other day for gunmetal. and it was 200 for everything that u need. but it came with a gallon of paint and a gallon of clear. more than u need. u could paint 2 cars with that
Yeah if you wetsand your car than it'll look dull. All you have to do after the wetsand is buff it out with a highspeed buffer to get your shine back.
Now about the wetsand and then clear again....yeah thats what normal paint shops do if they want a clear to lay like glass. Or in your case you just want a better shine.
My suggestion is to get a sprayer and a cheap clear made for autobodies. You'll get a better shine and its relatively cheap. about 75 bucks for the clear coat and 15 for the reducer. Then wetsand out the orange peel if any and buff on out. You'll get your desired effect!!
By the way do you have any pics of your spray bomb DIY paint job??

some guys have it right,
wetsand with 2000 grit making sure its PLENTY WET and use a sanding block and avoid edges as their isnt as much clear there. Dont want to end up in primer or actual paint. Alright once youve gotten out the inperfections you must use a buffer and (man gonna take me forever to go threw this) QUICK, youll need diiffent compounds from say 3m and different wheels and work your way up in the speeds as it becomes smoother and smoother till you get a damn shinny finsh. This isnt a easy job for those that havent done it. You have to be very carful when wetsanding and buffing a car esp at high speeds!
good luck!
