Iam installing my S2k antenna but i need to remove the antenna motor. I checked out this site http://www.bseries.net/html/garage/s2kantenna.php but it doesnt really tell you how to remove the motor. Can any one help me with this? Also one wire from the coax antenna wire attaches to the stud does the other wire need to be grounded? If so to what? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Antenna motor is simply held in by the top bezel and one small (10?) mm screw lower down. The screw doesn't go all the way through, but rather just tightens down to hold the motor to the frame.

As far as the antenna coax goes, I just stripped the plastic coax from the middle wire and wired that to the antenna and then the rest just left unattached. When working with the stud and stuff, I used a 10/24 stud. Also, the 1/2" PVC is the wrong size. You need 3/4 pvc. The 3/4 pvc has an inside diameter of 1/2" so that the rubber grommet's base can fit inside while the pvc supports it from the inside. When you secure all of your nuts to the stud, use an adhesive or glue to hold them in place. Otherwise, when secured to the car, they will vibrate loose.

Get a few couplings incase you mess any up .

Also, you can use an extension (found at Autozone) for the antenna coax. Just cut off the female end and use as necessary. You may be able to modify the female end to work with the screw tho.

Are you talking about the exisiting wires in the car? I bought an antenna coax from radioshack.

 

all i know is that its a pain to get to where the antenna motor is.

To removing the antenna motor, it's four steps

1. Remove the Driver Side Plastic Body Panel. I took out the back half of the fasteners and pulled it back a bit.



2. Remove the silver collar around the base of the antenna. It spins counter-clockwise.



3. Remove the bolts holding the antenna motor to the body.



4. Pull of the drainage hose (clear plastic tubing) and antenna lead.

That is all to remove the antenna motor.

 

Ok thanks. But how about the wires that hook up to the stud? Iam still confused if one of the wires needs to be grounded to the chassis or whatnot.

did you get the antenna from locustom.com?

if so, there is a red power wire to its built in amp. It needs to be connected to one of the three wires on the old plug. I think its the black one... Which ever one is a 12v key on power.

 

are those ebay bay shark s2k sytle any good, i just bought one for my firends teg same **** right, just not the real deal?

 

nope i bought the OEM antenna off of ebay and tried following these directions http://www.bseries.net/html/garage/s2kantenna.php but they're not that specific. It says "Use a coax antenna wire (Can be gotten at Radio Shack) and cut off the females end. Crimp on a connector and fasten the connector onto the threaded stud using 2 nuts. You can add addition antennas such as a home radio antenna to increase signal strength." THEN " Plug the coax back into the car antenna wiring and reassemble the interior." Someone said that when cutting off the females end there is a negative and positive wire and that one of the wires would need to be grounded. I dunno if this is true or what. Can anyone help?

Can you throw a link Timmy? If you have one available of course. I ordered the Locustom one and it came today, looks and feels almost exacly the same as the s2000 one that the lame dealer was trying to charge me 152 for, I paid 32 for this one.

 

man i looked on team-integra.net but the directions they give you is with the 120 dollar antenna+collar from honda. Heres the link if anyone can use it http://www.team-integra.net/se...D=859. Anyone else with any ideas that will help me? I have a coax antenna wire with one female end and a scanner antenna adapter that accepts Pl-259, phono or motorola-type jacks at the other end. Do I cut the female end off and attach it to the stud? according to bseries.net I do but iam just making sure. I must ground one of the wires too? PLEASE HELP!

 

i'd go with the s2k antenna from honda. i believe ebay ones or knockoffs are on the order of $80 anyway. just get the one from honda. from the ones i've seen even the black plastic looks better on authentic honda ones.

just an opinion, i ordered mine from honda last week, cant wait to put it on!

 

yeah i did get the OEM one from honda. I just didnt buy the collar I just have the antenna.

 

i saw someone riding around with it.

yeah. Well I think I got it instead of the PVC tubing I used the collar from the original antenna.
