Default oil pan plug

I just bought another crx and when i was changing the oil, some how the oil pan plug bolt got striped. Its not leaking alot, but just enough to put stains in the drive way. Is there any way to temporarliy fix that, or rethread it?

yeah you can use a tap and die kit. it might be hard to find one that is big as the drain bolt hole though.
you can prob either rethread the current one or weld it shut and tap a new hole and thread it. or you can get a new oil pan. gool duck.

what I did when I went to change my tranny oil and found the bolt stripped was I drilled a small hole in the bolt head and used a pin looking thing (can't remember the name) and wacked it with a hammer (after soaking it with pennatrating oil), it was enough to knock it loose so that I could take the rest off with vice-grips....but that might not work quite as well with a oil pan, since it is softer, so you may want to just replace the oil pan.....

I think autozone actually sells a coked plug, but I would just go fine a used oil pan.

btw, d series bolt thread pattern is M14x1.5, I found out the hard way

I have the same prob & I can't pull my oilpan as easily, need to pull the transfer case (that really sux)....I have a tap & I'm gonna try to rechase the threads & see if that works besides I was lookin for longer bolt incase the first 1-2 threads don't catch.
thats a good one, thx
(i'll put the gun down now & you can have the thread back)
