It's a 93 RX-7 twin turbo. Here is apicture of the "rats nest" removed. I rewrapped the main engine harness with high temp wire loom since the old romex stuff was really baked.

Sonny, I know the Rx-7 guys do that as a reliablity mod, but was it necessary for you to swap vac hoses already? Could you have waited, or are you just doing it for safe measures? Oh yeah, and welcome to CA

The stock lines are very fragile and brittle so they crack quite easily. Best way to prevent problems is to replace them with silicone lines, so yes, it is necessary. Well, it's more like preventive maintenance.
The vacuum lines had 90k original miles and they were completely baked...harder than most types of steel.
In addition, there are 5 check valves in the rats nest...all but 1 were leaking!
I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought this car...that's why I made the CRX roadworthy. Nothing like a reliable gas-sipping Honda to get to/from work. I kinda wish I left the A/C in though.

yellow-blur: I've always been in CA, so I'm used to the great smog rules we have here.

Those are McMaster-Carr 1000 psi check valves that have viton seats. They were $9/each.
Compare that to the a$$-reaming factory POS plastic check valve that Mazda sells for $35!

Got a part #? I might need something that would work well as an anti-backfire check valve as part of my boosted PCV system
