Anyone had stuck LMA "Lost Motion Assemblies"
I just recently completed my motor swap, and installed a b18c godzilla sleeved block bored to 84.5mm. Well the motor had sat for almost 2 years before i aquired it. Installed the motor followed the startup procedures, Put oil in each cylinder, cranked motor over at 15sec intervals till i saw oil pressure regester on my gauge. The motor fired right up but i had a horrible valve knock or what sounded like valves out of adjustment. and a Timing belt that vibrated like mad. Well long story short, retensions the belt to specs. Check all valve clearences all valves checked out. but I had ONE LMA that was stuck it would not move quite as free as the others each time the cam would hit the VTEC lobe it would knock aganist the LMA. Well I was able to compress the LMA all the way down and it poped right back up. and now felt as the other did. I put the cover back on cranked up the motor and WOW the valve noise was gone!!!!! and the timing belt vibration was GREATLY reduced. Wanted to know if anyother member has seen or heard of this before.
thanks
thanks
Yeah it's fairly common that is why when you tear down a motor for rebuild you should soak your lmas in cups of oil until you are ready to reassemble. It not only ensures proper function, but will also decrease valvetrain noise.
