anybody ever put a type r head on a first gen b16 i was thinking about doing this but i want to know if it will work or not.

 

if what would work??? a type r head is a b16a head just a mild port and polish job straight from the factory.

 

i know it would bolt up but do i need a different ecu or what like do i have to change anything.

 

Like he said...the type R head is EXACTLY the same as the b16. Only difference is the slight P&P, valvetrain, and cams. other then that a R head is basically a B16 head with mild port and polish...

 

if you wanted to put the cams tand the valvetrain in the b16 engine, you dont need a new ecu, but it would make a lot more power if you had the ecu chipped. putting a type-r head on a b16 bolts right on, but as they said they're nearly identical, so dont spend the money on the whole head.

 

Is it useful to skim off 0.15-0.25 mm off the head B16A1, coz the engine has done 130K miles, d't want put too much stress to it.
How much compression ration would raise if skim off 0.15, please help.
