Default GSR head Q's?

I have a 95 gsr. Me and a friend was lookin at my engine and he pointed out that my head is a 99 gsr head. Next the toe P72 engravement it says "9/9" in the circle. Does that indicate what year the head is? and also are there problems or disadvantages in running a obd2 head on a obd1 ecu and block and such. ITs been like this for 2 years and I just neve realized it. Thanks

obd2 had more o2 sensors i believe, and doesn't react to aftermarket parts as well as obd1, alot of people will say obd1 is better if you plan to do some mods. im no expert though... bump for people who know they ****

OBD2 has nothing to do with it...

again this is another urban legend started by that magazine actually....it's done nothing but a dis service to informing import enthusiasts...it's full of misinfo...

we have several obd2 vs obd1 threads here already that you can search and read...stop perpetuating the misinfo please,....

Damn you SCC for starting that! They do one stupid test of a DC header on a OBD1 and OBD2 car, find the OBD1 car made more HP and go write some big dumbass article on it. Put a header on ANY two of the same car OBD whatever it will NOT see the same gains. Plus they used a chassis dyno which are simply inaccurate. Changes in power could have been caused by anything including something as small as what tires the cars were using.

This may be true... however, if you throw an obd-2 head on there nothing is different. The castings are the same, as well as the rest of the valve train. The only thing you should worry about is if there is an OBD-2 ecu along with all the wiring.

Im sure my car is running the OBD-1 ecu. I just never knew how to tell what year your motor is. I took a look at my friends 94gsr and it said 9/3. My cat and header only have 2 o2 bungs which im guessing that it is an obd-1 car. Is there any other way to tell what year your motor is?
