Gsr to B16 head: Problems
During my recent engine build, my mechanic went to torque down the cam caps and one of the bolts snapped off in the head. They were able to get it out, but thats when they realized the last guy that put my motor together overtorqued the bolts way to much, and ruined a lot of the threads. I didnt like the idea of going to a machine shop and having them bore out and rethread because the head already is damaged.
Now i am looking into getting a new vtec head (for my ls/vtec) I was mainly looking for gsr heads, but b16 heads seem to be more plentiful and a little cheaper. My question now is, will my header and IM fit? If i did get my head bored out and rethreaded how much would it cost and how safe would it be?
I am running low on funds, and i am stranded in daytona on my friends couch until i can get this resolved. any help would be greatly appreciated.
