worst possible situation when fixing a no vtec problem?
So i just got my head rebuilt with a valve job and some porting. i did all the basic tune up procesdures change oil, coolent, timing belt etc etc. start the car take it for a spin pulls great but below 5000 rpm ( a jdm b16 btw). I get no vtec.
but it could be so many things since i changed and put in some many items on my car. the oil pressure is better, because i use to get a oil light for like 5 or 6 seconds when i first start my car no it just goes a way instantly. no CEL (running a PWO). i am just scared its nothing Mecanical. i hope the guy did everything right. but what could he do wrong that would not make Vtec kick in? maybe the pin on the vtec rocker fell off?
i am open to any sugestions and will paypal the first correct answer with 5 bucks for just knowledge.

take apart vtec soleniod. Check for any debree and see if it's plugged maybe (it's activated with change in oil pressure or something). Check and make sure ring is still in great shape (crack, deformation, ect.) Kinda get it cleaned up and put back together. Hopefully it's now up and running.
If not use a volt-meter and unplug the vtec soleniod. Have somebody rev the engine (with transmission in nuetral and parking brake on). see if there is a change in voltage where vtec is supposed to activate. If there is then the problem lies with vtec soleniod or the oil pressure it's getting. If there is no change in voltage then the problem is probably a short or something between the ecu to the vtec soleniod.
good luck
