'lude almost killed me last night - help?
so my mother is visiting from southern cali (i am in sacramento). she drives a 92 prelude, and mentioned some steering issues when she arrived. said it was feeling washy and soft, over steering like a ************, and almost difficult to correct for. hmm, thats not what i like to hear. so i test drive. changed lanes at 75, and the car went berserk. okay, it was a quick, jerky lane change, but that was the intention - it went left hard and sharp with just a touch of turn on the wheel. trying to correct for its oversteer was nearly an exercise in disaster. hard swerved right, the back left, all with extremely minimal steering wheel movement. i was nearly into the center median and into the ditch on the right side in a matter of seconds. first time i have ever been scared while driving a prelude. went directly home, lifted it in the air, inspected. every bushing compressed and splitting, every boot cracked, split, oozing grease. it doesnt look pretty. and her "mechanic" in orange county was supposed to have just checked everything, she just got an alignment, new rims and tires. how the hell did this extremely obvious problem get overlooked by a "professional mechanic"? i dont know, either. i can assure you my next trip to visit mom will include me asking him that very question. now, it is sunday, tomorrow is a holiday, and i gotta get mom back on the road to go home. WTF can i do here? anyone got a suspension diagram or something of that nature so i can get to work on it? time is of the essence, please, anyone. or if you live in sacramento, or know someone who does and can help, i'll buy the beer. thanks.

Take it to an alignment shop and make sure your rear toe is ok. I nkow when mine was off it was all over with massive oversteer. I didnt quite understand what u were talking about with the grease but yea id just take it somewhere and have it checked over if u dont know where to start.

Im sorry AndyD but tire pressure would not make you do any of those symptoms. Maybe pull to 1 direction a little bit but not cause massive steering problems. Take it to a shop and have them check what satan said. let them test drive it and crash it, stop playing.
