check to see if fuel pumping is working(just cus you smell fuel doesn't mean there is fuel)
check mail relay
check timing

I had this same problem a couple of weeks back, it ended up being the timing, and because I flooded it so bad trying to get it started, replaced the fuel filter too!

Over the past two years i've had similar problems. The first time my car would start but wouldn't keep running. I fixed this by replacing the ignition switch. I had the cliche, car wouldn't start in hot weather problem. I fixed that by resoldering all the contacts in the main relay. My lastest problem was that my car wouldn't start after I did a tranny rebuild. I was getting fuel and spark but the engine wouldn't turn over. Turns out honda ground connections suck. I replaced all the factory grounds with some fat 4 and 6 gauge connections and my car fired up right away. You can check if the grounds are a problem by jumping from the negative battery terminal to your engine block. Sorry for the long post, but there are a lot of things that can cause an engine not to start.

could also be a bad battery if it's just hard to start after sitting in the hot sun.
