so i got $2500...boost or swap?
im in nyc and i have a 98 ek hatch..sohc motor with 50k..i wanted to know if i should just boost my d16y7 or just swap in a b series motor...if that is the case...aproximately how much should i be looking to spend for a clean b16a2 swap? would a an ls/vtec built swap would be cheaper?
what is your main goal for the car? what do you want it to be able to do? also, i would not recommend just slapping on a turbo onto a d series motor. with any setup, you get the full potential when you build it from the bottom up. so, with that in mind, you can either go with a custom turbo and build the block to withstand boost or go with a better beginning foundation, and swap the motor.
it's all a matter of opinion on this old debate.

search. this has been done over and over with every aspect counted for somewhere in each artical. but to answer your question I boosted and haven't looked back.
my incentive is to build an ocassional weekend track ride, but able to be a mid week daily driver if this combo is even possible....nothing extreme..just a gradual project

it seems like im leanig towards the boost more..maybe run it until i kill the motor and then sell it on..that would be the time to do the swap...sounds like a plan...so i guess i would have to go to the forced induction forum to ask wat turbo should i be looking for my d series

aah I think he could do an ls or b16 for 2500...
depends on his labor hookups..
how much work he or his friends could do and such..

ah just get a greddy kit and some nice fuel management with the leftover cash.
tune it and ur done
your motor should be able to handle around 180whp reliably if tuned properly
thats alot

WTF are you talking about?
I got my b16a2 with 50k with new water pump, and timing belt for $2000 complete, out the door from R-Crew Racing.
You can find full LS swaps for $1200!
