Car overheating. Oil pump?
I inherited an engine that a kid had to get rid of because it was overheating.
I pulled off the head to check if it was a headgasket, and one of the pistons has spun a bearing at the small end. That pistons was sunken more than it should be.
Pulled apart the lower end, and the oil pump will NOT spin by hand. I have another oil pump off a defunct block that spins quite easily.
Would a motor run, without an oil pump? And just exhibit overheating problems?? Or would it not run at all?
