Need help sizeing correct bearings..
you actually have the wrong chart for figuring out the color for the rod bearings. its pretty much the same though, the numbers and letters need to swap positions.
to figure out the correct bearing you need for the rod bearings, you use the numbers that are stamped on the side of the rod/cap and the letters on the crank. iits sort of like using a multipication table chart.
for #1 rod you need = green
#2 = green
#3 = green
#4 = yellow
if you want to figure out main bearings, you need the letters that is stamped on the pan rail of the block(towards the rear) and the numbers on the crank. the letter on the the block that is closest to the front of the block is used for main bearing #1 and the letter that is closest to the rear is for main bearing #5. as for the numbers on the crank, the number closest to the snout of the crank will be used for main bearing #1. and so on...
also, when buying the bearings through honda. they are sold as sigles only. so you need to buy two of the same color for each rod or main

you have six letters there, im taking it that its suppose to be DCCCC and not DCCCCC
for main #1 you need = brown
#2 = yellow
#3 = yellow
#4 = yellow
#5 = green
for main #1 you need = brown
#2 = yellow
#3 = yellow
#4 = yellow
#5 = green
yup
for #1 rod you need = green
#2 = green
#3 = green
#4 = yellow

#2 = yellow
#3 = yellow
#4 = yellow
#5 = green
for #1 rod you need = green

so i'm a complete newbie at rebuilding a honda bottom end. i've got a b17a block that i'm using the stock crank in, stock rods with JDM P30 pistons (standard size). i bought new HOP b-series vtec rings (standard) from jhpusa.com, and i need to now buy new rod bearings and main bearings and everything i could possibly need to completely refresh the bottom end, and for that matter i might as well do a refresh on the head as well.
- how do i determine which color rod and main bearings i need? (i read the info above, but i'm still confused. if someone would lay it out as if they're talking to a complete moron, that'd be sweet)
- what parts other than new bearings and rings should i use for the bottom end? (rod bolts? thrust washer? oil pump? water pump? anything else?)
- what parts should i get to refresh the head? i'm planning on running R cams or sk2 stage 1's up top. (valve seals? anything else?)
