What kind of glue or sealant do i use for a speaker box?
I just made a custom box for my jl 12w3v2. I need to know what kind of glue or sealant to use to go over the cracks inside the box? Or do i not need to? I also heard that when you put the sub in the box you should seal around the sub with glue also, so air won't get out? HELP!
Use silicone sealent you can buy from any hardware store. Anyone will work. It is wise to silicone around the sub if you think there could be any air gap. Whatever you need to do to make it airtight.
Sometimes the sub on the box can make its own seal tho, so its whatever you think u need to do. good luck and post pics up of the box u made.

thanks! Do i need like some sort of glue gun or something? Actually i had my friend make it in his shop class. It's the exact measurements to the JL specs
. The fry's box i was using did not sound good at all! Here some pics..

COol man, that looks really good. You can buy the silicone and use a caulking gun, or you can buy it in a tube(what i did). The tubed stuff is a little more easy, but its super easy to work with. What are you going to cover the box with? That will sound awesome!
i'm debating if i should carpet it or not, i know i'd probably do a crappy job if i did.. and i'm kinda lazy to do it lol.
seriously, carpeting it is really easy. If your careful making your seems connect nice it will turn out beautiful. If you need instructions on how to cover, i can help. I covered mine with vinal and it turned out pretty nice.
