TOPEKA, Kan. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in StreetGlow Extreme Rush Pro Rear Wheel Drive at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 16th annual O'Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals presented by Castrol GTX listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, amount over/under index, and position in order following run, class and class index:

Left Lane: Matt Scranton No Time, Now #0 RWD Index: 0.00
Right Lane: Matt Hartford Runs 7.336/7.336, Now #0 RWD Index: 0.00

Weather conditions: air temperature 74 degrees, relative humidity 77 percent, barometer 28.41 inches, adjusted altitude 3,130 feet, track temperature 92 degrees.
This is first of two time trials for the Sport Compact Extreme Rush Rear Wheel Drive.

Scranton rolled the lights and turned on the red light, he then got on the throttle and got real loose. He made a quick move toward the wall and then corrected it and when he did the car got completely side ways and rolled on to it's top. It skated down the track on it's top for a long ways, Scranton is out of the car and is okay. Hartford with a good clean pass.

W/L Driver RT ET Speed

(W) Matt Scranton ('04 Celica) 0.162 7.598 193.57
(L) Manny Cruz ('02 Cougar) 0.339 11.376 109.56

Cruz had problems right off the starting line and clicked it off.
(W) Ara Arslanian (Street Glow/Bullish Racing '00.210 7.294 197.94
(L) Abel Ibarra (K&N Filters '04 RX-8) 0.118 9.073 135.59

Ibarra had problems early in the run and clicked it off.
(W) George Ioannou (Street Glow/Bullish Racing '0.058 6.764 203.77
(L) Matt Hartford (Summit Racing '04 Cavalier) 0.099 7.138 169.70

Ioannou with a great looking pass here, the quickest and fastest of the weekend.
(W) Brad Personett ('04 Celica) 0.080 7.178 193.05
(L) Craig Paisley (Paisley Racing '03 Tundra) 0.050 7.295 185.15

This was the best drag race of the session. Paisley was out of the gate first, but Personett was able to chase him down just past half track. Personett will have lane choice over Scranton and Ioannou will have lane choice over Arslanian in the semifinals.

Personett headed for the retaining wall right after the hit. Ioannou is running a bracket car this weekend, laying down another six-seventy.

I was thinking the same thing... someone crashed. Looks like Scranton...


But... then it shows him qualifying in the final round? SO did they flip the car over and run ??? IM confused.

Something to that extent. I just spoke to JB and he said they contacted him the Thursday before this past weekend and they cancelled. Kubo and GM backed out which only left JoJo and JB pretty much, so they cancelled

Sucks too, FWD needs to get more love.

FYI, ProFWD was NOT cancelled, according to my sources. Five drivers qualified for Topeka, but no one showed.

There's an old saying that "Luck is when opportunity meets preparation." NHRA provided the opportunity........................
