Another down EF and the most annoying things to replace.
Anybody in Northwest have HUGE impact wrench?
I'm broke and my car need waterpump, timing belt and tranny oil seal replaced.
I have been loosing engine oil , i trace out and its the tranny shaft seal.
That darn crankshaft pulley bolt ... That darn pin on the tranny shaft (why would they make it hollow).
I have been battling with those things for 2 days,

Hey sorry for your luck... to get the bitch pin out of the linkage i used a torx bit, or use a allen wrench that is on a socket..one that will just slip inside of the pin... the body of the torx bit will catch the pin and this cant slip off now... know what i mean? the 3/8" drive socket with the torx bit attached... get a few of your friends tools together with all their 6" long ext. and attach it to the socket, take 30 seconds and remove the hood... now hit the bitch with a hammer... works every time for me... yea i know, you need like 4 ext. but it works...
The bitch pin expands if you're using a piece of metal that fits inside it. You need to find a bolt that fits over the outside of the ring to push it up, not expand it.
My dad made the perfect tool for crank bolts when your engine is in the car. I will take a picture for you since I will be finishing changing my timing belt today.
i jack my car as high as possible, and i have been beating that pin with hammer and punch tapper, but it wont came out. Do you suppose to beat the darn thing from above??(who the heck is design this thing)
yes, thanks i use the craftman jackstand too (its black color by the way)
you could barely see the thing on the picture

I may be wrong, but I think the bitch pin only comes out from ABOVE.
Take Warchild69's advice....take the hood off, get a few extensions and a socket or a bit that fits the bitch pin exactly. I think I used an allen head bit. Then hit it with a hammer and the pin will fall right out.
Like Mr. S said, you need a bit that fits the outside of the pin...if it goes inside it will expand and will be much harder to knock out.
As far as your crankshaft bolt....have somebody lock the flywheel in place through the starter hole, and then get a huge breaker/cheater bar and knock that sucker loose.
I've never had to use an impact wrench...always hand tools with a good cheater bar

my wife been standing on the brake and putting it on the 4th gear, while i try to loosen the darn bolt, with 17mm, craftman 1/2" and a long pipe. I sprayed with liquid wrench, wd 40 , all kind of slippery crap. it wont move.
about the pin, i might try the allen wrench with BIG *** HAMMER.

you need to take off the starter and jam a screwdriver in there so the flywheel doesntturn. then you use a big *** breaker bar to take that bolt off. its gotta be at least 4ft long
I have been searching, and people been suggesting me to use the chain wrench.
Man its scarry long wrench with a chain (just need the spike ball to make Medivel weapon)
How the heck do you use that. Wrap on pulley and use the wrench with pipe then drive reverse???

Don't use a ratchet....you will probably break it.
Use a solid 1/2" with a 17mm. and a long pipe. It will work!
Using a chain wrench seems like more trouble than it's worth.
What's the trouble that you can't get it off now?
Take out the starter, have somebody hold the flywheel teeth with a screwdriver, and get to work on the pulley bolt with a long pipe. It'll come off everytime.

I took off the starter
With its current condition (car on a jack stand), i can only push the pipe 45degree (from the time when it hits bumber to the time when the pipe hit the ground), Its an SUV 3 ton Jack and its already at the highest i could possibly jack.

Why not just take out the linkage with the tranny? it will save so much more time taking 2 extra minutes to undue the linkage and drop it with the tranny, rather than spend 20 trying to remove the pin on your back. Everytime I do a swap, even with a lift I just drop them together. When it's out you can easily remove it if you still need to.
If not, then using an 8mm punch matches the pin perfectly and will give you little trouble. Like mentioned up top, don't use tappered punches because they will expand and make it harder to remove.

I've removed that pin plenty of times, all under a minute easily. I just use the right sized punch and it comes right out, I just do it from the bottom. It's cake. The crank pulley bolt is another story though.

!!!! Good god that's what I was going to say. You're going under the car with just the jack holding it up? Are you nuts? At least put some jackstands or something under it incase it falls or the jack fails.
