Default Comparing 2000 Civic Ex to 2004 Civic Ex

I was thinkin about trading in my 2000 Civic EX for a 2004 Civic Ex but i heard from alot of people that the 2004's are much slower than the 2000 civics even with the VTEC-E? Can anyone verify this? Or is the 2004 civic faster?

Also anyone know which civics anyone can recommend thats better to buy 2001-2004 civics?

There is no comparison a 2000 ex is a MUCH better platform to start off w/ than a 2001+ civic. Lighter more aftermarket backing, they look better and can be modded to do anything in your wildest dreams

I have a 99ex and I can tell you mine is faster then a 01+ ex. Not drastically, but it is faster. I would not buy a 01+ civic if you plan on modding it. Not to mention I think they look fugly.

The '04 don't have much aftermarket stuff for them yet b/c they just came out.

I'm not really sure how much of the '01-'03 aftermarket stuff will interchange but I have seen a few nice '01+ Civics...

On the contrary.. there's more parts than you think for the 01+ EX.. check out 7thgencivic.com and look at the # of swapped and boosted cars on there... there's a nice turbo kit out for the 01+ now, k20 swaps are not too difficult either in the EM's(01+) I've got an 01 Ex with Brembo brakes, tanabe suspension, strut tower bars, and the aforementioned turbo kit.. running a very conservative 6psi on the stock motor I was still able to lay down 162hp and 170 lb/ft tq to the wheels in it.. the new ex motor may not rev as much but it makes way more torque than the d16.. so don't bust em too much.. and they're different than every other eg/ek civic out there, nice and clean.. so I say go with the 04 and be an independent!!

it's not worth the hassale.
might as well just swap the engine if u think it's too slow.

pick up a K20A2 Engine
