IM in the market for a new swap for the hatch, and im having some difficulties getting a 1995 swap since the cars a 1995
Now u guys might be saying"whats your point" well in Cali u got to put the whole motor the way its supposed to be so if its obd2 then u got to put it in the obd1 car as a obd2
Anyone know how hard this would be?is it just the the motor harness and a few things here in there?should i just keep searching for a 1995?The prices people are asking for gsr swaps is making me just spend the extra cash on a 96-97 type r
but if the cost to convert 2 obs is gonna be a pain then im out of luck or as other say "no dinheiro"

I don't think anyone makes a obd1 to obdII conversion harness. They are all the other way around. I am unsure how difficult it would be to convert to obdII in your obdI car. I haven't seen anyone attempt to do an obdI to obdII swap and have it reffed. I am sure you could make it work I just don't know if you can get a bar sticker.

i was going through this same **** with my car in california i have a -2 hatch with a 97 ls..... there is no way to fully convert from obd1 to obd2 at least as far as the referee goes. once they type in the vin off the motor they will atuomatically fail it even if it passes emissions, its bullshit, i need to find a 94 95 motor as well so i would say keep lookin its the only legal way to do it in cali
That's odd, cuz the last time I spoke with a ref (about 3 weeks ago) he said all you have to have is a motor from the same year vehicle or newer and from the same family (i.e. Honda/Acura, etc.). Just run all the smog crap and you're straight. He said it can still be obd1, just make sure all smog stuff is hooked up and no check engine light, etc. etc.
Anybody who've had their cars smogged recently by a ref care to comment on this?

It's not like a k-series in an eg or something right?

Katman makes obd conversion harness's and they sell for 100 bucks on the JHP site. Go to electrical and click JHP product. They said it was too new for the car??? that's unheard of for me... I dont see what the problem would be. By the way who is that girl you have for your avatar, got anymore pics?
You have to use all of the emissions equiptment and ecu from the car that you took the swap out of. If it came out of an obdII car you have to use the obdII ecu and smog equiptment. You cannot put an obdII motor into your obdI car and run obdI . As far as the ref is concerned if it is OBDII it might as well be a k20 motor in an eg. They will still fail it. The only way I've seen it work is using an obdII jdm motor and converting it to obdI. The jdm motors don't have a vin that the ref will recognize. You just have to make sure you have a motor that was made in obdI that means no ITR motor for you....
A jdm gsr is a good choice. Then all you have to do is get an USDM gsr ecu for a 95 and you'll be set. Sometime they will want paperwork on the ecu that states it is the right ecu for that year car you will have to get that from the acura dealer. Just tell the dealer that its a 95 jdm gsr motor and you need the paperwork that states what usdm ecu you will need for a 95 gsr.
