Finally, the TRUTH regarding K-Series vs. B-Series engine weights!
As I was removing the B20VTEC from my 99 Integra to install a JDM K20A with the new Hasport EG/DC K-Series mount kit (shameless plug), it dawned on me that I still had not seen any real numbers regarding the weight differences of these things. I dug out my trusty Longacre corner balance scales, zero'd them out, and tossed the motors on em. I made sure to take pictures of the scale readings, name them, save them to the pc, and clear out the camera before I did the 2nd motor. I also tried to keep the motors as similiar as possible, neither had an exhaust manifold of any kind, or an A/C compressor. The B-Series motor DID have a power steering pump, and the A/C torque mount, so factor in 5 lbs or so on top of the numbers below..
B-Series engine/trans: 401 pounds
K-Series engine/trans: 403 pounds
In conclusion, these are surprising numbers, I figured (like most I bet) that the K-Series motor would be lighter. I'll weigh a few more B and K series swaps in the coming weeks and see what else I find.

The exhaust manifolds will make a difference. One being cast iron and the K-series being tubular steel. Also, the the dual runner GSR intake manifold would add some. Not trying to bash, just adding.
but now at least we have a place to point the people who keep telling everyone that the K-series is 70lbs lighter then a B-series... Ive seen ALOT of people say they were lighter, but I remmeber brian g said they were actually really close in weight, and now we have proof.

I think you'll find that he B20Vtec weighs closer to a B16A than a B18C too.

What about the weight of the trannys/axles/other stuff that will be swapped along with it?

Those were weighed with transmissions. The AC compressor and axles are almost identical in weight.

What argument? Of course few people listened when I told them the B16A and K20A weighed the same. The B20Vtec will weigh within a couple of pounds of a B16A. the H22 weighs 100lbs more than a B16A or about 80lbs more than a B18C. We weighed them a couple of years ago for a Sport Compact Car article.
