Default EF SIR Front End & Hood Issues!!! HELP!

Just finished putting on the sir front end. everything seems to be lined up fine. BIG PROBLEMO! Hood no workie! I hooked up the stock cable to the jdm latch and closed the hood. I then proceeded to test it and it pops, but doesn't come loose!
Has anybody else run into this problem?

Yup, mine does it also. I cannot figure out what causes it, but I swapped hoods with another Ef, and ever since mines been sticking like that. When you pull the release cable, you'll hear/feel it pop open. Then go to the front of the car and pull up on the hood right in the middle underneath the "H" emblem. You'll probably have to pull hard. Mine opens that way. Give it a try

danke schoen! will try that right now! I think i'll just have to cut the latch and just use hood pins.

>>>just tried it....there is no way that thing is opening up. hrmmm

i had this problem

where the hood pin goes in to . there are 2 bolts that you undo to move the bottom hole around slightly so it fits perfect just loosen them and put hood down open again and tighten them up the bottom clip thing on your wont be in the correct place. hop that helps

those bolts can only be accessed when the hood is open. there are no other bolts holding it in. I studied the usdm radiator support and came to the conclusion it's either the latch cable is too long and/or the lever inside the hole isn't fully opening up

If you need to get your hood back open, you can do it manually.

Go underneath the car and have somebody hold the bumper cover away from the car at the bottom so it doesn't smash your forearms in half....then reach your hand up and pull the latch back manually.

This is somewhat difficult to do and you'll probably cut your knuckles up on your a/c condensor if you still have it

Then after you get it open, do whatever adjustments are necessary to make it work properly.

It will work.

Once the latch is pulled away there's nothing holding the hood down.

Keep trying....you have no other option to get it open, and this WILL work.

What's the use in cutting your car all up!?

Pulling the cable itself is useless...as you have to isolate the outer portion from the actual cable inside. This is what the happens when you tug on the hinged latch underneath your dash.

If you pull the latch manually from under the car, the hood WILL open! Like I said before, there's nothing else holding the hood shut!

Work the latch, have somebody pull up on the hood and be patient.

I've been in this situation...I know how frustrating it is.

Get a long bar and put it between your bumper cover and the ground. This will give you the clearance to freely move your arms around inside there without the bumper banging in to it. Have a friend pull up on your hood from the outside!

i've had that happen so i just bang on the hood, walk away, let the cable tighten back up and then it usually works, but i don't care about my hood

got it. the spring loaded arm that goes through the hole was getting caught. i had to wiggle a flat head in there to get it loose. i'm just gonna use hood pins. the solution would be for the whole latch assembly to be pushed further back, but it's pushed all the way back so there are no solutions.

Glad you got it open.

Can you not notch the radiator support and slide the latch back farther than what the OEM setup allows?

How does everybody else get around that?

I usually don't see hood pins, which I personally think look tacky.

it needs to move back a tiny bit. you can remove the assembly off of the radiator support and just use a dremel and make all the holes slightly bigger and slide it back. I'm going to try that tomorrow. another solution is to just bend the metal rod in the middle of the spring load part forward abit. I don't know if anybody else noticed, but the jdm radiator support didn't really fit perfectly. I noticed that I had to push back the radiator support on the passenger side to get the 10mm bolts to go in. I think that had something to do with pushing the hole/latch forward just a few mm's

you might also want to try bending the front cross member out a little. also my usdm and jdm fron cross member were different in distance. but thats how i got my hood to work.
