Default RHD Drive Crx. Should I Try To Import One?

Honestly, I just got my car on the road and I dont feel like I did it right. I went overboard on the body work and the audio, sure it looks ******* sweet but I have to baby the car everywhere.

This summer Im hoping to make about 5k.

How hard would it be to import a RHD Crx from Japan? How much do the cost?
Are the models any different?

Is there still an HF/Dx/Si and also an SiR?

Im in Canada so I read that anything over 15 years old doesnt need something but I forget, how much of a hassle would it be to get one here and last things last

IS IT WORTH IT? Or is the crx had its 15 years of fame?

I dont remember what it was, but it was an article about a skyline, it said that the first skylines were now legal in canada and i think it was the 88-89 so I figure the crx was to, just wonderring what that meant and if made it a lot easier

I think what u mean is it doesnt need to be complianced. We have a similar rule over here in Australia. For example supras, soarers etc werent sold here so we can import them but as they are not 15 yrs old yet we have to get a compliance plate which basically costs btw 2-6k depending on what car it is.

After 15 years the car can be brought in and doesnt require a compliance plate but however does need a few things to be done to comply with the road/safety regulations here. These include side impact bars and a few other minor things such as different mirrors, mounting position of seatbelts etc.

Price wise i dont know if its worth it...shipping cars is the biggest killer for us down here.

Yeah maybe that was it

Im really going to start looking into it. Just want to know what models in the states come with what engine, Im on my second crx right now and would absolutely love to have the glass top(come all every model??), JDM front and rhd would be the best, except for left handers of course.

Even If I didnt have the money Ill still be able to get a loan for a few grand.
Would a jdm car be more to insure?

theres a good number of RHD CRX's down here in So Cal that I've seen that can't sell. Since it cant be registered its not even worth it to get.
Personally, I dont see whats the big deal with RHD. its so common now adays, that its not even "special" anymore.

There's a lot of them that are registered.

The point he's making is that it's such a hassle, a lot of them never get registered so they don't sell.

I've seen registered JDM cars sell for 6-9K here on H-T.

What I would do, personally (I'm in TX mind you) would be to get a JDM car, and also get a junk USDM car of the exact same year that has a clear title.

Swap ALL the VIN plates, fill the one on the firewall, and then register it. Then I'd end up with a clear title for the new car and I would just junk the old car or let it rot in my backyard.

Nobody checks your car when you register it...whatever title you present at the tax office is what gets registered. It may be different elsewhere, but here where I live anyway, this is perfectly feasible. It may be illegal (probably is since you're swapping the VIN), but it's not like you'd ever get caught, because as far as the state knows, the emissions center, registers office knows......the car is a USDM car!

My brother's friend bought his for $4000 plus he gave the guy his hatch. It was only a shell so he had to put the motor and interior in and he was set. You might have seen it. It was featured in SuperStreet Dec 2003.

We have a rhd crx that is registered. I bought a front clip and pulled the motor then let the clip sit in the garage for like 3 years. A friend asked if he could have it so i gave it to him. He then took it to a body shop and cut off his front and then welded the rhd front onto his. Rides and looks great and is fun when you sit on the left side holding a steering wheel and act like your steering wheel broke off( makes drivers on the left lane freak out). LoL
