What would you do? Time for a swap?
Water pump just started leaking now.
The car currently has 206k on the stock motor/tranny but it runs great. Gets good mileage, doesn't smoke, burn oil etc. I haven't checked the compression but the car is definately not as responsive as my previous CRX with 155k on it.
Should I spend the $100+ dollars on replacing the water pump or
1) swap in a d-series (d16y7, d16z6) - save money
2) swap in a b-series (b18b) - take the chance to do what I wanted
I already picked up HAsport mounts and shift linkage awhile back.
NOTE: I do not want a b16, not enough tq, and the b18c1 is too much money.

honestly...**** it. get a da integra or something for cheap like that.
if you really love the crx do the b swap-you will love it.
if you are not entirely attached to the car but would like a little money out of it...fix it and unload it or do teh dseries swap, drive it for a while, and then unload it.
not saying that getting rid of the car as a whole is the best solution but i have seen lots of crx's and hatches lately selling for around 2500 with bseries engines already in them but not much else done. i would just pick up someone else's frustration, correct the things they have done wrong and live life with a few less scraped knuckles than i would have had if i swapped on a 200k+ car.

There is nothing wrong with the car other than now needing to replace the water pump.
Interior and exterior is clean as it can be for a car this age. IMMACULATE, I would even venture to say.

shove a b in it and eventually go low boost-since the chassis is clean. i am used to rust and seized bolts up here in wisconsin...anything past 140k isn't worth working on.

If car is imacculate, do the water pump/ T-belt and be done with it
I say "lets save as many pristine stock CRX's as we can." LOL
An immaculate original cult car has a better re-sale than a modded car does.
As for me, my D15B2 has a bad water pump, an oil leak, low compression and low oil pressure. But the rest of the car is in VG shape save for a little rust. So I'm torn as to what to do. B17 or junkyard D15B2 ?
But in your case.... fix it and sell it. Buy a terminal case car to do the swap.
Save the unwanted cars from the junkyard.
Like they say on the speed network...."Don't crush 'em.......restore 'em."
Just my .02 cents

No way I would ever sell this thing.
B-series seems the way to go right now.
Timing belt and water pump is over $100 for oem parts, which is only what I use.

Either choice of swaps would be nice. I'd say go with D-series since it's your beater and you got another car for track

Try and catch me
I'm assuming I'll hit at least 300k before mine goes at. (Currently at 251k in my DX and running strong)
