Default weird thumping/clicking noise? cv boot?

Just noticed it recently and its coming from the front driver side axle sounds like. it sounds liek something is turning and isnt lubricated so makes this weird clicking thumping noise.. hard to explain, but you can constantly hear it as the cars moving in gear. not as bad at higher speeds..

cv boot ripped maybe?

Does it happen when your driving straight or turning the wheel?

Look at number 19 in the picture, is called the halfshaft bearing,
it's possibile that the bearing could be worn out.

I have that clicking sound if I take off in first gear on an incline,
it makes a popping clicking sound as the weight of the car transfers.
I have already replaced the axle, and it still makes the sound.
I just haven't got around to replacing the bearing, so i'm not 100%
sure that's the problem in my case.

check for some type of grease coming out of your boots if you see anything you need to replace them.

the easiest fix is actually just to buy the new axel. to replace the boot itself is stupid and will end up costing u just about the same amount of $ and just more time. I got my axle for $100, but when u send the core back(the old shaft) they give u back $50, so all in all its around $50.

ps-the install on a cv shaft is relativly easy also.

yeah, i replace both my cv axles myself....they costed me about 80 bucks after the core charge was repayed. Its the easy way to go, and you can do axles your self its not hard just takes some time dont rush it.

you'll have to jack the car up and see if there's any play when
you shake the axle

well you can ride around and have it click the whole time and be annoyed. but you will be fine for awhile. But your taking a risk of eventually snappin the axle on one of the boots. Its what happend to my friends Integ LS, but of course he was doing donuts in the snow.

Check the axles thread that's right around this one, started by Laurence. Minus the cleaning and regreasing part, it's not too hard.
