I think you can use DOT4 but I know you can't use DOT5. It says right in the manual... and maybe on the fill cap.

 

on the fluid fill cap i believe it says DOT3 or DOT4 fluid.
go double check your cap and see what it says

 

I use That Synthetic Brake Fluid for Both My ludes... I haven't had any problems...

 

I use DOT 10 in my shezee so you should be fine with DOT 4

 

As long as its not silicone based, you'll be fine. Silicone fluid tends to get bubbles in the line when the abs goes off. Not to mention that water doesn't mix with the silicone causing it to pool in concentrated areas promoting rust inside the brake lines.
