Default Quick question

I'm not too familiar with cars in general but my rex just died out and I need a new engine. It was the stock D16a but I can get a D15b for cheaper with a waranty. I was wondering if I can just swap out the D16a and use that same transmission with the D15b? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I doubt you can find one with a warranty unless you buy it brand new from the dealer. Yes you can use the same tranny with the D15

O okay, you should be good to go with that, especially if it has a warranty

D15b... what? D16b6? D16B2? Those are both crap USDM motors - HF and DX motor. The B6 would work in your car, but you would probably bolw it up. It's super weak and doesn't have any high revving capability. Your D16a ECU wouldn't be nice to it since the B6 motor is 8 valve instead of 16.

The B2 would work, but it's not as strong as the D16a motor you have. By nature it's a DPFI engine instead of a MPFI like your D16A. It's got a waeker bottom end as well.

The JDM D15 ZC would be nice... heard it's got VTEC too. It's a MPFI motor by nature so it's a goo dreplacement for your engine.

What prices are they offering on the D15b motor? Have you compared that price to a D16a motor?

If it is a D15B2 then you have wiring differences to go from Multi-point to Dual-point injection. Is this thing really worth it (i.e. super-cheap)? You seriously might be better w/ another D16.

It's a D15bVtec from japanstarmotor.com. They give a 2 month waranty and it is 600$. I'm having the motor proffessionally installed so wiring differences wouldnt matter much to me unless that would cost a whole lot extra. Would going from a d16a to a d15bVtech be better or worse for me to do considering money/hp/and overall performance? Thanks for the replies.

You can buy any D series motor and it will work just fine. Just swap over your intake mani/injectors, distributor, fuel rail etc if its a DPFI motor (dx) and your good to go. If this is just a replacement motor I'd suggest the sohc zc from http://www.hmotorsonline.com its like $400 and is a complete stock replacement, a few extra ponies too.
