-HELP- h22a turbo? Prelude SH?
does anyone know why not to many places sell a turbo for a prelude SH? its hard to find a turbo for my car...i heard it is because of the ATTS system..can anyone know a turbo that works for a prelude SH?
it should work fine. the problem is that with enough power, you will freak the atts out and it will stop working and probably throw a CEL at you. Best bet is to do a transmission swap and pull the atts unit, then turbo away.

no. there are a few choices. you can
A. pull the fuse to the ATTS unit and then it will just spin freely at all times (acting as a base model). you will get an ATTS light for doing that.
B. leave it all in tact and wait for the light to come on. then you know you have just trashed your perfectly good system and it is now worth nothing.
C. there is someone on here (search ATTS) that makes an adapter plate for the intermediate shaft so that you can convert fully to a base model (ATTS wise at least)
but with all of that you still have your oil filter in a funky *** spot which is why there are not many kits for the SH IMHO.
you can purchase an oil filter relocation kit from Jackson Racing if you feel you need it. it is meant for the supercharger, but all it is, is a filter relocation kit. you could install that for just ease of oil changes if you wanted to and it theoretically wont **** anything up (never heard of it doing that, but by adding line you cause the oil pump to push the oil just that much farther which could shorten the life of it.) prodrive makes a heavier duty replacement gear for that which would combat it.

run the same. YES but with an ATTS light at all times.
perform the same. NO!
the ATTS unit is what makes an SH what it is. that little pain in the *** box will (arguably of course
) make a lude out perform an ITR stock for stock.
i am not sure, but i dont think even if you do option C. that you would be able to put an LSD in there, the trannys are different.
if you love to corner at high speeds then you got the right model. if you just want straight line with "power" then make it a base. its as simple as that.

yep if you wanna drag... trade the pricey SH for a base and turbo that. ATTS also hinders maximum hp too, since it is essentially part of the drivetrain, so there is some hp loss that a base would not experience.

i do not agree with that. yes it is true that possibly it takes a little more off due to drive train loss, but its not like the differance is substantial.
hell i pulled 174whp with intake, exhaust, Fuel rail and FPR, clutch and flywheel. i havent seen a base do that too many times.

in stock SH is best for autocrossing, but it will take the boost just like any other prelude. there are some nicely boosted SH's out there. just not as many people boost an SH as they do a base.

you said that the "atts also hinders at maximun hp"?
Can I get some numbers? cuz i really love my '97 prelude sh. I would still like to have the atts fully functional. is there a max amount of hp that the atts can handle before it goes all crazy? don't really like shakes a,b,c choices. seems a bit limiting.
Cuz if it could handle 240whp or even 220whp with the atts system working, i would really like to boost my car.
1) I want to know the minimum/maximum amount of psi or hp that i could give, so i can still use my atts system. Looking to boost it at like 6-7psi, and if i want to do straight aways i'll unplug the atts and push like 18psi (with new sleeves and other stuff of course), so i could have the best of both worlds, autocross and drag.
2) But another question: I also heard that if you use an aftermarket FMU like hondata system (which i will need if i'm going to install a fmax turbo kit) it will not work with the atts system? So the atts system will be useless. can someone clarify. and let me know that if this is true, is there a way to bypass this system to get the atts to work?
If this realllllyyyy doesn't work, can someone tell me what needs to be done to get the most na power out of my sh and still be able to use the atts system (willing to spend give or take $5,000). hopefully 220whp. (is that possible, possibly with $10,000 or more right?).
-other sh owners what do you do for more hp gains/more speed?

ATTS craps out around 240whp. and i dont like you so there

I gotta a 98 SH lude with a turbo - Fmax kit also - run about 5 psi, AEM ECU - The ATTS doesnt work as a result of the AEM ECU, it cant talk to the ATTS computer - There is some random research happening to find out how to get the AEM to talk to the ATTS computer- but nothing official from AEM. I kinda miss the ATTS - but the cars lowered so that helps - plus I dont take corners like a champ - helps avoid tickets.
You cant really build a fast SH without throwing the ATTS out the window.
You can build to your hearts content, with cams and valvetrain and all that good nifty ****, but in the end, if you want any sort of tunability, gotta swap to an OBD1 ECU, and right there, no more ATTS.
I havent had any experience with the AEM EMS, or GReddy Emanage so you are on your own there.

thanks for all of your replies i guess... This really sucks ***!!
and shakes u gotta calm down, i did maddd research on forced induction, but there wasn't much about sh's with atts. everyones just said toss it, and forget it. but i was just seeking for some luck.
So if anyone EVER finds a way to get the atts system working with my turbo/ecu please, let me know!
- email me at lude126@yahoo.com with a solution.

Yes you can - AEM allows more functionality then the Emanage - maybe Ill try it later on .

how much better of a noticable difference does the SH handle around corners? I've searched my *** off but couldn't find much. Yes I know how it works, but I haven't driven one. With the same driver in each car, could you take an off ramp or a 90 degree turn at 5-10mph faster in the SH than in the base model or what? I am very curious for some sort of an example.
