A D16a1 wont swap into a 88-91? Ive got a EE4 88awd wagon with a blown motor and Im looking for options. Id like to buy a JDM zc but 400 for the motor and 300 to ship doesnt seem economical to spend 75% fo the motor cost on shipping. Anybody got any Ideas. I also have a D16z but since mine is a 88 there is the Clutch problem with the difference in spines. ummmm what to do?

$300 for shipping?! where are you shipping it from the moon?

the splines on the clutch shouldn't matter as long as you keep the 88 tranny - i have the z6 in my 89 si. i am using the si tranny, z6 block and a clutch and flywheel from a 90-up civic. i know the 88 has a different spline count, but the only thing that goes through that clutch is the shaft from the tranny. i would assume you were going to be keeping the awd tranny to keep the awd on that civic, right? then the z6 motor will bolt up to that tranny and you can just use the 88 clutch and flywheel - that flywheel will also fit the z6 block - it's just smaller. so if you have a z6 motor sitting around, wire it up and throw it in!

Is there any ECU that will work with the harness already in the Wagon or Do have to cut up a 92-95 harness and hardwire into the wagons?
i used the boomslang obd0-1 harness and wired in like 4 wires, an 02 sensor, and the distributor. had to extend a couple other plugs, no big deal. did the whole motor rebuild, engine swap, wiring, and even added msd to the car in about 3 days - it was very easy and simple stuff.
