More Power or Better Suspension ?
i'm trying to improve my suspension becuz its useless to make power if you can't put it down. i am aware that this Topic has been made before but i am trying to find a inexpensive Suspension set up that works efficiently.
current set up:
Old style Adjustable Koni's (the orange ones)
Ebay "groundcontrol" look-a-like Coilovers
1.8 60fts in the vid.
24.5x3.13 M/T on Lenso's
my struts are BEAT and as you can see in the video below all the weight transfers to the rear and the car squats. i know for sure that my times will improve if i upgrade my suspension.
the only thing i have planned that i know that work well are the Traction bars. Either Full-Race or JimFab.
[I]Please submit your suggestions from personal experience.
Thank You
btw, below is the video. watch how the rear squats 1st thru 3rd gears:

i'd say one of the weak points if the struts are already worn out. its obvious that that area would be inefficient during launches. but thats your call on if they are still good. another area you can work on is the rear spring. we are now carrying the 900-1000 lbs spring for that DRAG only setup that can help improve your 60ft.
we were getting 1.72 60fts with the stiffer springs on just stock shocks with a 130hp single cam. remember that HP wont be useful if it cant be put to the ground.

After you stiffen up the rear here are a few more things you can do.
Check your camber, toe
Someone here might be able to tell you which setting works best with that chassis. I would say 0 deg toe and 1 deg negative camber.
Corner weight the car
If your coilovers are adjustable you can adjust to some extent.
Front to rear rake
Rear end sitting higher to move weight to the front.
Just my ideas

will knows what's up.
you are in need of some stiffer springs in the rear..so the traction and weight
stays up front.
1.8 60's aren't bad at all though.
it's just the body rocking between shifts.
will could hook you up .
he hooks me up.

go back to work ryan. hehe.
ya do some alignment work too. having a properly aligned car helps the front tires get more contact patch. if its all cambered, then you'll get more of the contact on one side of the tire... which is not good.

I did a little bit of both.. As much as id like to say, you cant put power to the ground without good suspension, thats kinda true, but in a racecar maybe... In my civic, i had 25x8x13's, stock struts, 900lb skunk coilovers, no radius arms at all.. i was pulling high 1.6's and low 1.7's EVERYTIME..
Id say get a stiff spring and work on your driving. not to be a dick... Its cheap and ghetto, but im going to assume it will be good for what your doing..

my camber, toe and alignment is fine. i just *need* suggestions on a good Spring and Strut combination to prevent the weight transfer to the rear.

thanks for the advice
i pulled a 1.7 60ft on one pass but i missed 3rd & 4th gears. i still managed to run a 12.1 @ 117.
how are those 900lbs springs for daily driving?

when you say that they suck on the street, do you mean the front and rear coilovers or just the rear?
i ask because i can get the rear and switch them when i go to the track.

I thought that my car needed better suspension for a while...That was until the track was prepped better, and I fooled around with tire pressure...BTW, the car I was running was a full weight eg hatch, ls motor/trans,open diff, stock axles, and m&h 24x9.2x15 full slick...I can pull cinsistent low/mid 1.7s with this setup...Oh, one more thing..Suspension consists of eibach pro kit springs, and 180,000 mile blown struts...Pretty sick setup...huh
Sometimes the best mods are none at all
, just trying different things. Id be happy to answer any of yiour questions as far as launch techniques, just shoot me a PM and tell me a little about your setup..

launching is a BIG issue with me. i'm afraid to break my transmission. i broke my diff twice with my current tranny. i keep replacing them with stock differentials. i keep wondering if i should go with an aftermarket diff that is stronger.
as i stated before, i pulled a 1.7 60ft launching the car kinda hard. right after i launched i thought to myself "damn, i better take it easy". needless to say, that was my best 60ft yet.
maybe i need bigger ballz and not better suspension

If you are afraid of breaking your trans are you sure you really want the car to hook up any more than it already does? BTW what trans do you have now? Does it have a factory clutch or gear type LSD.

No room for fear in racing. Its definately your driving then. I ran stock diffs for the longest time, no issues.. Ill say it again tho, if your scared to break yer tranny, then yer not going to go fast. thats what drag racing is...
Like i said, if you want advice, Pm me

Try Tokico Illuminas 5-way adjustables and 900-1000 pound springs in the rear... It will siffen the rear a lot for you. Just some advice. Mr. Hunt told me about this.
I'm having same problem in 1st and 2nd my car is squating way too much
I've H&R struts and springs
I'm gonna get the car lined and put some stiffer springs in the back I hope this helps me out
My 60ft are averaged 2.2 with BFG drag radials 205-50-15 on a CRX B16A turbo
