np, i don't know about engine degreaser. the only one i tried is gunk it works good but i don't know if you really want to spray it on and let it sit then wash it off with water. i just sprayed it and used a towel to clean it off. of it you have a lot of carb cleaner, spraying directly at it, the oil will just come off and just let it dry if you don't want to wipe.

But since your shipping the Head out, why would just let the head upside down and let most of the oil drip out then wrap it around in a old rag/ towel. If you happen to do clean it off real good, remember to tell whoever is recieving the head to make sure the cam and rocker assemply is well lubed before starting it for the first time. If its dry it will leave score marks on the cam

the only reason why i cleaned my head was so when i work on it, its not all oil and such. good luck

i think what im gonna do is buy tons of carb cleaner and just spray it on there while the head is upside down somehow then let it air dry. then im gonna put the head in a thick plastic bag similar to what oem headgaskets come in and wrap that in bubble wrap and tape it up. then put it in a box surrounded by packing peanuts and more bubble wrap. A cylinder head btw not a human head for those that jump into threads and dont read the whole thing. lol. Thanks again bro.

make sure you get all the little nooks and crannies when you clean it. the head i had shipped to me had obviously been cleaned before it was shipped, but a TON of oil managed to leak out onto the shirt he wrapped the head in.

If you are leaving the rockers/valvetrain in, make sure there is some kind of pretectant on them so they dont rust. wd-40 or a little bit of oil or something along those lines.

bag it in a garbage bag... several garbage bags. Then wrap it in bubble wrap and stick it in a box... fill the rest of the box with shredded newspaper or some confidential doc's from your workplace

yeah, i went ahead and put it in about 3 garbage bags, then wrapped the garbage bag in thick bubble wrap, then lined the box with bubble wrap and filled it with packing peanuts

if you have time and a couple bucks your local machine shop should do it for under ten bucks and it will be spotless inside and out
