Is there any advantage with the B18B1 block vs the B18A1?

Default Is there any advantage with the B18B1 block vs the B18A1?

I have a Boosted B18B1 engine in my civic right now and I have a B16 head sitting here and a spear B18A1 bottom end doing nothing.... I was gonna rip apart my B1 to but it on but would i be better just building the A1 now? I plan to use the stock crank with good set of pistons/rods/blockgaurd and use GSR oil pump..... is there any difference at all that would make the B1 be better for this?

there's not really any difference between the blocks....rods are the same, cranks are the same, pistons might be different compression but i havent noticed a big enough difference between the pistons..basically everything is the same..maybe a few minor things but there's no reason why you shouldnt build the a1.

The blocks are the same but the heads are the only difference. Build the A1

The only advantage to the B18B block is that it has the 'B18B1' stamp. If you live in California and decide to use the better B18B head and intake manifold on a B18A block, you won't be able to ref the motor.

The are only 2 things that give the B18B 142hp where as the B18A has 130hp.

-better intake manifold design on the B18b
-i believe the cams are slightly better as well
