Default The devil made Guillotine connectors!!!!!!!!!!

Thats what I call them.
Well I have been having this prolonged problem w/ my car studdering in low rpms. I have spent about $300 trying to figure out the problem. Everything from spark plugs to fuel filters. Well I had it narrowed down to the O2 sensor well while I was under the car I notice one of them connecting my A/F guage(this was installed by a local shop since I don't have tools down at college.) I still didn't think that could be the problem so I start trying to get it out. Well it is glued in, so I just reconnected but didn't reconnect the a/f guage and amazingly NO MORE STUDDER. it was that damn connector.
the studder is still there but very minor, I think it's from the cuts the connector made in the wire.
heres the first thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=845330
NEVER USE THEM

Are you talking about the connectors that you put one wire in and then go over another wire anywhere you want and put the metel strip through? Man i love those connectors, but when you take them off it sucks because there is that cut. But there great connectors in my book. Sorry you had a bad experience with them.

Yeah half tap connectors either you love them or you hate them. They have their place but I wouldn't use them in my car....

not butt splices I would rather use those. I can say I hate these damn things. I had a shop put a bunch of stuff in and they used those things on all the work. So now I am having to go through and redo all the wiring because they keep shorting out. Such as my indglo gauges, they used one and it fryed them so now they don't work.

here is what they are, I guess they are called T-taps.

hate those things

They're called Tap Splices...

I used 'em to install my VAFC, and wrapped 'em in electrical tape just for good measure... No problems yet, though I'm probably gonna go through and solder them once I get some more soldering practice...

They suck!!!! do your self a favor and just solder them the first time. they work for a while but then they can "loose" there contact with the wires.

do it right the first time. just my .02

I agree in the fullest. I have always hated these things, just never noticed them when they installed the stuff. I almost always try to solder since it doesn't take much more time and effort and the connection is much stronger, so you don't weaken the connection to the o2 or whatever you are splicing into.

NEVER AGAIN will have those on my car. I am still shock that a connector was my problem for about 6 months!!! I haven't been able to take it to the track because I have been worried about it running lean. Now this weekend is racin' time...lol.

thanks for letting me rant
