Default Quick Question

Hey Guys, I'm hoping I got this in the right forum, but I diden't see anything against posting this kidna stuff in the forum guidelines up top. You see, I'm rather new to the car scene and I gotta a quick question for some of you that know more then I do (Basicly, everyone) . I'm looking to buy myself a integra in the upcoming week(s), and a friend from work recommended coming here so I figured you guys would know a whole lot more about this kinda stuff then I would. The price range I was giving by my parents was $8k, but its kind of one of those the less money I have to borrow from them, the less I have to pay back type deals. So in short, I'm wondering which one of the following two cars posted on autotrader you recommend :

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...ist=9

Or...

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...st=21

Granted, I know that me and a friend who used to work at a local Honda dealership should go out there and check the engine for each one and see if everything is in decent shape, but assuming it is, which do you guys think would be the better deal? Anyway, thanks in advance.

are you planning to mod the car???
the 95 is riced out so who knows what other things are rigged? also obd1.
the 97 looks good for its price and its negotiable
just show up with cash on hand and that talks....

If you want a car thats already got stuff done to it then defenately go with the first one or if you want a stock one and want to build it up then go for the second one.

Ah. Mr. Beeks you make an excellent point. Like I said, I have a friend who used to work at a local Honda Dealership, so I'll head up there with him and check out everything to make sure everything isen't all ghetto rigged. Also you mentioned it obd1? Is that a problem? I realise its alittle bit older, but is there a real disadvantage to that compared to OBD2? I tried running a quick search real quick but the only comparsion type post I could find was dealing with the differences in the wiring harness. Anyway, guys. I definately appreciate the input and quick responses, and hopefully soon I'll be able to join you guys out there as an integra driver. Thanks again.

um, am i missing something or does the 1st one not even say what model it is??? is it an Rs, gs, gsr, ls???? shady...

only difference in obd1 and obd2 that i know of is obd1 responds better to mods, obd2 is better for fuel economy but doesn't respond as well to mods, i.e. you won't get as much power if you mod it (unless of course you get a new ecu)

id go with the stock one though

look at the owner first. buy from older people, and first owners.

the problem with that first one is that it's riced. my bet would be that you go there and find a 20 year old kid who's driven his car as hard as he can...riced it out a little, and now stuff starts going wrong and he wants to get rid of it.

#2 car is pretty much stock. lower miles, you could probably get it for under $6500.

good trick if you want....is when they offer a test drive...let them drive it. if they're blowing around town trying to show off how fast the car is to you, then that's probably how they drove it on a daily basis. why would you want a car that's been abused?

look around more too....autotrader's not the only place. look at your local newspapers....or newspapers from within your state (maybe the deal of a lifetime is a few towns over)

be patient also. just because you have a license, and you're parents offered to front you some money to buy a car doesn't mean that you need to buy one before the weeks up. spend the time to look at a bunch of cars, do the research, wait until something great comes across you. get one that will last you a long time, and one that you won't regret buying after a year or two.

i wish i had more guidance, and had been more patient before buying my first car.

Yea, even though I really want my car for the summer, I'm trying not to rush into one as I already own a truck that I've had for a good 7 months thats now going to my little brother because thankfully he wants a truck, so I get a second chance at getting what I want. I won't get another chance, so I've definately been researcing several different cars for a while. But anyway, I definately understand what your saying about the car being abused and stuff. I'll give that trick a try. It makes perfect sense. I'd like to see how he drives it too. As for the newspaper, I'm already ahead of you and well...not really anything. lol. But yea. Thanks for the advice, and I'll keep everything you said in mind over the next few weeks.
