Default idle surges low...

have a 98 prelude SH... i am having the old idle surge down to around 500 or lower RPM when you come down from around 2K to 3K or so problem. I cleaned my intake filter and cleaned out the throttle body somewhat. still has same exact problem... most noticable with the AC on. I want to say it is going to stall soon but it has not so far... so i should try adjusting the idle sqrew or what??? what about the cleaning stories of the FITV? i am new to the H22 and i have not even checked to see if we have one. I am very familare with the B series motors and all and i have cleaned those fitv's and it eliminated the problem of this type of surge.. some also had ECU problems and others various things like vac leakes. I know several of you H22 peepz have this problem... hit me up.

U guys might need to have a compression test done. The engine will do that if the compression is low in just one cylinder.

Ya you have to fix your check engine light, cause that way you can check for engine codes... i had the exact same idling problem on my car, that sometimes it would idle really low and the engine would shake and smell of gas and oil. So i checked for engine codes and i got 2 of them.

Or you can just install a fuel pressure regulator.. guaranteed to fix things.

It only happens mainly with the AC on well after the engine warms up. happens a little bit without the AC on but not near as bad... only when warm.

I had that problem after beating on the motor in the warm. Ends up taht the coolant flowing through the IAC valve was warming my intake charge in a huge way. I disabled it (re-routed the coolant) and haven't had the problem since.

same problem here, it drops like a ****** with the AC on but a little bit with it off, like expample when i drive around a little bit like 5-10 miles and stop somewhere and turn my car off for a few sec to go inside then come out start it back up and i go to back up a little bit take my foot of the gas and the rpms drop to zero car shakes then gos back up.

i found out a while ageo that the coolant line for the iac was blocked so i cleaned that a while ageo and had the entire coolant system flushed, and back then i was getting a flux idle problem when it was cold outside, doing that fixed it. but i got this other problem

i went to one auto zone they checked my battery out the guy said u got a bad battery, i was like what volts is it reading he said it just says bad battery, im like ok, so i go to another auto zone and they test it and it says 10volts need to charge, this was after driving my car 15+ miles, but my car sits all week with the alarm on it so imight have a bad memory, my cars all messed up
