Default ZC DOHC DISTIBUTER problems

I just got my distibuter yesterday for my DOHC ZC and I wired it up and plugged it in. The car wont turn on. I looked in the chilton and the firing order is 1342, correct me if I am wrong there. The car tries to turn on but nothing happens. I checked all the wires for spark and they all have spark. I played around with the firing order a little and almost got it to work but it didnt. Anyone with a similar problem? If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

have you triple checked the wiring? I'm assuming that this is a new motor swap, and not just a dizzy replacement.

I snagged this picture from a different post - what are you calling the #1 post on your distributor?

What are you calling #1 on the distributor?

Is you timing belt timing correct?

I thought with the DOHC ZC you have to switch the wires around on the distributor? When you siad you used the chiltons manual was it for the d16?or D15? depneding on what car you have. I'm not sure where the wires are supose to be switched but try researching that.

Did you rewire the cars wiring harness to match the Teg dizzy, or did you rewire the plug on the dizzy to match your car's wiring harness?

Typically when it won't start in my experience, it's because the two white wires are switched around. That's how it was on my Si & friends Si at least. Answer my question so we can help diagnose better......

sigh... I cant believe no one has asked this question yet.

Does the car turn over? Cranks but wont start?

Yea? Check your grounds located at Valve Cover, Thermostat housing, and battery, as well as tranny ground.

make sure that the rotor is on correct. some distributors are threaded all the way through allowing the rotor screw to go in either side, thus allowing you to install the rotor 180 degrees.

reminder for my self
-Check two white wires again (and again and again)
-Rotate rotor 180 degrees (if possible)

Are you getting spark? I've gotten a "new" distributor with a bad coil in it, and had the same problem. Another trip out to the store, and she was running.

finally got it working... for some reason the 1342 firing order isnt it for the motor. this brings me to another thing about this motor that I bought from SOKO. my pressure plate from old zc which i had blown up didnt match up to the flywheel when it was shipped to my house. so i had to go out and get an act flywheel but anyways thanx for all the help. I will post what the firing order is when i go out tonight and finish a few things on the car.
