i saw the pics of your motor posted on the forum. i was wondering what year your motor is, and hw the fu_k you got ti so damn clean. i just degreased my engine bay, and it is 10 times cleaner, but yours looks like there is no dirst anywhere, at least not that i can see. any tips for cleaning it??
I didn't clean it at all, it arrived like this. It's a mint motor from a freshly totalled 2000 Prelude with less than 5,000 miles on it. There's a bit of dirt on the transmission though. I hear Simple Green engine degreaser is good, but I know no special tips for cleaning under the hood.
Simple green works great. Let it sit on the engine for about 5 minutes, and then spray more on. If it is greasy, then use a soft scrub brush while you spray more on. Use a 50/50 water to simple green ratio.
Once all of that is done, rinse it off. Now grab a rag, and wipe everything down. Wipe underneath all of the hoses and wiring. Then take some Tire Wet, or a similar product, and spray it on a rag. Wipe down all of the hoses and plastic. Do not use too much though, it will collect dirt.
I have some pics of my engine after I detail it, and it looks mint. I will try to get them scanned.
