b16 tranny grind at low rpm...just started
hey guys. i have a 2000 b16 tranny with low mileage. it always shifted great never heard a grind from it. the other day i was driving and i lost traction at end of 2nd going into 3rd gear and my tranny grinded when i shifted into 3rd fast. ever since then the tranny grinds anytime after 4000 rpm's. i was wondering if there is a way to fix it easy without replacing the syncros since the problem just started and it never grinded before. i already tried putting in syncromesh and it brought the grind from 3000 rpms to 4000 but still not good enough. im not looking to get told that i dont know how to drive. im just looking for some help. thanks guys.

Hmmm, my old skool (1st gen) b16 s1 grinds, but that's to be expected...
Seems to me i have heard of other late model si drivers having issues with their low mileage trans also.
IIRC, most of them were under warranty, and ended up going to honda for a solution. In your case, i'd assume this is not an option, by your SN. (Swapped in your hatch, right?)
Fluid would have been my suggestion, and actually helped immensely on my old tranny, but i see you've already been down that path.
I know this probably doesn't help you out a lot, just thought i'd relay the info that it is a relatively common occurence, even on newer, lower mile examples...again, going from memory.

Be prepared to spend a couple of bills for a 2-3 synchro/sleeve set from honda just for the parts...
