turbo automatic
i was wondering if installing a turbo in my 97 auto prelude was worth it? i also wanted to know if the tranny would hold up? i had a few problems with my tranny before so any info would help.
since you say that you had tranny problems before, i dont suggest you do any type of FI without at least beefing up (tranny cooler, etc) or getting rid of the auto. the auto tranny only holds you back from the full potential from whatever you want to do with the car. the tranny will only hold up for so long. everything will break eventually even 5spd (in this case, the clutch, etc) hope that helps

yea, hold off on the boost.
you're much better off fixing the prob with your tranny or getting the 5 spd swap first. boost is only going to tax your car more, and from what it sounds like, it would not hold up too well.
search, get your tranny strait (auto or 5 spd - though the 5spd is strongly suggested and encouraged
), and then think about the boost.
good luck...

i dont understand why ppl always say that racin with an auto is so terrible , ive dragged an auto and a 6 spd and id take the auto any day..on the auto you can launch alot harder,i always have had probs spinnin/not hookin up with the 6 spd..dont have to worry bout missin a gear..i have a frind thathas a 87 grand national runs in the high 9's in the .25 and its an auto.
auto= 25% hp lost.....its not only proven its a fact, and you can learn how to launch right, or get a LSD tranny and you will have alot less problems launching with a manual. Manual you have a hell of alot more control
manual tranny= cheaper and lighter

I don't understand how u say u can launch harder with an auto since every possible way to launch hard with an auto will undoubtedly **** ur trany harder than 5 dollar *****. You say you've driven a 6 spd and the 4 spd auto and u prefer the auto??? I dunno whut the hell kinda crappy shifter you are, but I would take 6 spd or 5 spd over auto any day. BTW, i have an SS, so I know from experience.
yep lol. also the the autos that drag are used to maintain consistent times and usually american trannies are beefed up more since their auto trannies were in race development longer (since the 60s) because the american companies felt people would hate shifting so they did massive R&D for their muscle cars's auto trannies. The gearing on autos suck

Linear curve like the JRSC? The JRSC produces a flat torque curve, with boost on demand as soon as you step into the throttle. Not sure what you are talking about.

I meant that power is produced gradually rather than an instant spike in power. The spikes in power will cause the tranny to die. like 98blacksh said, turbo autos (for Hondas) don't work well.
