ive had this particular prelude for a few months now, and ive pretty much fixed everything that was previously broken except the 4ws. its the only thing i have left to fix.
with that said... heres what happens:
right now, the light is on and the rear wheels do not turn. HOWEVER, if i were to reset my ecu right now, the 4ws light would go off and stay off for about a days worth of driving AND the rear wheels would turn as they are expected to.
so the question is... does anyone know what would cause this problem? or does anyone know how to fix it? or has anyone had this problem before?
btw, i work at a Honda dealer, and i have pulled the code (#22) and LOOKED at what i should do to troubleshoot it, but havent had time to troubleshoot it. so i thought id ask and see if anyone had a good idea of what it was b/c the troubleshooting process is a biotch (taking steering wheel off and other not so fun things would need to be done)
thanks in advance

It seems your main sensor (located under steering wheel) or sub-sensor (located on the steering gearbox) is dead.
It is rather main sensor - they were more fautly than sub sensors.

i didnt want to say anything to bias anyones answer, but this is what i was thinking also.
the first step on the troubleshooting is to take off the steering wheel and check the MSAS. now i just gotta find time to check it lol.
also, there was a recall out on the sensor in the back... mine was done but maybe it failed again... i shall find out soon enough
