Default Exhaust question?

Hey all. The other day, the axle-back portion of my exhuast rusted and seperated from the rest of the pipe. I took it to my local non-scamming muffler shop to see if he could weld it back on, and he told me that the previous didnt install everything properly, so he would have to have to install a new cat-back system. He quoted me at $210 for the stock setup, and $300 for 2 1/4" piping, and he crush bends the pipe. I know I can find a better deal on some mandrel bent piping, so I was wondering if anyone could point me in a direction that i can get something decent and really really soon. I saw in the Summit catalog a Flowmaster 2" cat-back with the Delta muffler for 170+tax shipped. Does anyone have any input on how those are? Thanks all!

I just went with a custom set-up. I got 2.25" piping, free flow cat, and the exhaust all for $300. Works good for me.

Sounds good. Question 2: Does anyone know of any trustworthy exhaust shops in the Chicagoland area that do good work? Thanks Again!

http://www.kteller.com sells mandrel bent kits for the crx for $185 for the piping. It's slip fit, so you can put it together with clamps or have it welded.

I've heard good things about him and his stuff, and I will probably order it when it comes time to do the exhaust on my swap.

Niceness! I'm preparing to order piping from Kteller right now. But have yet another question. I was told by the guy at the exhaust shop that if I get 2 1/4" or 2 1/2 inch piping, I would also have to get a new cat converter, is this necessarily true? Because if it will all fit fine, I'll order the piping and mate it with either a magnaflow or dynomax muffler. Thanks Again!

that was us.. before we launched the site.. i am sure.

still have those systems starting at 185 for slip/weld with clamps and hardware~

but if you got a 2.5" system and you still using the stock cat. its like what? 1.75? thats a big difference, flange size wise...

Well, I ended up going to a local shop after searchin around for good prices. Got 2 1/4 mandrel bent piping for 225+tax, and purchased a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler for 39.99+tax. The system sounds great. Just like stock with a lil bit of kick to it.

Yea, plus out there in Cali its a lot easier to find random shops to do good work for cheap. Not much support around here.
